After the seriousness of Going Clear, I needed to go in the opposite direction and either read an “everyone in town dies” murder mystery or something humorous. [Nonfiction can drain me, some topics more than others.] I went in the latter direction and decided to read Yes Please by Amy Poehler.
I think Amy Poehler is hilarious and have long enjoyed her work on Saturday Night Live and Parks & Recreation. I also really appreciate the web series (and now website) that she helped create, Smart Girls at the Party. It’s so important to give girls and young women positive role models and I applaud her (along with Meredith Walker and Amy Miles, the other two women who started Smart Girls) for providing a community for those who are still sorting themselves out.
I’m about a third of the way through and so far I think the book is full of a lot of wisdom with plenty of humorous anecdotes sprinkled in. I’ll review when I’m done but this train would have to take a serious detour for me to ultimately not enjoy it.
