Wednesday’s Word (#4)

Standard

I can’t believe it but today is my fourth Wednesday’s Word post! The purpose is to highlight a word that’s either fun to say, not used a lot – but should be! – or sums up my intention for the day. (In case you missed them, here are the previous Wednesday’s Word posts.)

Today’s word is…

Cacophony:
a harsh discordant mixture of sounds [as defined by the Oxford Dictionary]

I love the sound of this word when spoken aloud! I also appreciate the fact that it means a “discordant mixture of sounds” while being a unique combination of sounds itself. And while this isn’t my intention for the day, I’m sure it will be the goal for a lot of people considering it’s New Year’s Eve (in the US currently, at least).

Happy New Year, everyone!
