Monday Motivation (#7)

Standard

Today’s Monday Motivation post is here to provide inspiration to keep you writing! These quotes are specifically to help you dig deeper in your writing – to go beyond what’s obvious and tell your own original story. (I know that I often need this reminder!)

“The role of a writer is not to say what we all can say, but what we are unable to say.” ~Anaïs Nin

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” ~Sylvia Plath

“The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and clamoring to become visible.” ~Vladimir Nabokov

“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.” ~William Wordsworth

“Write down the thoughts of the moment. Those that come unsought for are commonly the most valuable.” ~Francis Bacon

“When you are describing,
A shape, or sound, or tint;
Don’t state the matter plainly,
But put it in a hint;
And learn to look at all things,
With a sort of mental squint.”
~Lewis Carroll

I know that it can be easy to fall into literary tropes if I’m not paying attention while writing. I want to make sure that what I write is my own, that it comes from my brain and my heart and doesn’t rely on clichés.
