2015 Tournament of Books: Day 6

Today starts week two in the 2015 Tournament of Books, though we are still in the opening round. Have you been following along so far? Today contenders are Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and An Untamed State by Roxane Gay.

I haven’t read An Untamed State yet but Station Eleven is the last book I finished and I really enjoyed it. Much like Friday, it seems that the match commentators (Elliott Holt and Laura van den Berg) were surprised by the “upset” verdict from today’s judge, Alice Sola Kim.

You can check out the judge’s opinion and read full match commentary here. The ToB continues tomorrow with Redeployment facing off against Silence Once Begun. And if you didn’t see my post last week, Powell’s is offering 30% off the 2015 ToB selections for a limited time!

[Spoiler alert – stop reading if you don’t want to know who’s won each day.]

If you haven’t been following along, here’s a list of the winners so far:

Day 1 – The Bone Clocks
Day 2 – A Brief History of Seven Killings
Day 3 – All The Light We Cannot See
Day 4 – The Paying Guests
Day 5 – Annihilation
Day 6 – An Untamed State
