2015 Tournament of Books: Day 7

Standard

Have you been following along with the 2015 Tournament of Books? I’ve found the insights into why the judges have made their choices to be incredibly interesting! Today’s contenders were Redeployment by Phil Klay and Silence Once Begun by Jesse Ball.

I haven’t read either of these books so I can’t really speak on who I think should have won or anything like that – but I am much more interested in reading Silence Once Begun now than I was previously.

You can check out the judge’s opinion and read full match commentary here. Tomorrow is the last day of the TOB opening round and the match pits Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng against Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante. And if you didn’t see my post last week, Powell’s is offering 30% off the 2015 ToB selections for a limited time!

[Spoiler alert – stop reading if you don’t want to know who’s won each day.]

If you haven’t been following along, here’s a list of the winners so far:

Day 1 – The Bone Clocks
Day 2 – A Brief History of Seven Killings
Day 3 – All The Light We Cannot See
Day 4 – The Paying Guests
Day 5 – Annihilation
Day 6 – An Untamed State
Day 7 – Redeployment

The first short story in Redeployment is one of the best I’ve ever read, and I usually don’t like short stories. But it’s so amazing; I made my entire family read it! Totally recommend it!

Hi Allie! Thanks for reading and for letting me know. I’ve heard so many good things about it but then the commentary today made me wonder. Glad to hear it’s worth the read!
