Another day means another matchup in the 2015 Tournament of Books quarterfinals! Today we have Redeployment by Phil Klay up against Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante.
I’ve heard great things about Redeployment but neither of these books really jump out as things that I must read anytime soon. And that’s fine – just because others like it doesn’t mean I will, or should. It seems like the match commentators were split on the judge’s decision today, which always makes the matches more interesting!
You can check out the judge’s opinion and read full match commentary here. The ToB moves on to the semifinal round tomorrow! We’ll have a showdown between A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James and The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters. Have you read either of those and are you rooting for one over the other? Also, if you didn’t see my earlier post, Powell’s is offering 30% off the 2015 ToB selections for a limited time!
