Wednesday’s Word (#19)

Standard

Happy Wednesday! It’s time for another installment of Wednesday’s Word, where I share a word that’s interesting to say (and add to your vocabulary if it isn’t in there already).

This week’s word is…

Iatrogenic
/īˌatrəˈjenik/
(adj.) Of or relating to illness caused by medical examination or treatment (as defined by the Oxford Dictionary)

While looking for a good word for today, I somehow stumbled onto this one. While it’s not a fun word by any means, it sort of struck home since I recently had a very minor surgery. Plus it’s still fun to say even if it’s not a happy word.

I seem to have not picked up an iatrogenic infection or any other issues, for which I’m very thankful. It doesn’t matter how minor a procedure is if the doctor doesn’t wash his or her hands and that’s aside from the plethora of germs living in hospitals and clinics.

Happy Wednesday and thanks for reading!
