Wednesday’s Word (#21)

Standard

It’s hard to believe that it’s already midweek (or June, for that matter) but no complaints here! Since it’s Wednesday, I thought I’d share another word to add to your lexicon if it’s not already in there.

This week’s word is…

Calefaction
/kalɪˈfakʃ(ə)n/
n. The process of heating or warming (as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary)

As the summer months are nearly upon those of us in the northern hemisphere, I figured a word related to things heating up would be appropriate. I was happy to stumble across calefaction!

A calefaction point is different from a boiling point since boiling is actually turning a liquid into vapor. Hopefully it doesn’t get that hot where you live! Regardless, the calefaction of the northern hemisphere after the winter is well underway.

Happy Wednesday!
