30 Day Writing Challenge: Day 27

Standard

30 Day Writing Challenge goals

Day 27: Conversely, write about something that’s kicking ass right now.

[I have to admit, I initially read that as “something that’s kicking your ass” and wondered how that was much different from yesterday’s prompt.]

This blog is kind of kicking ass, actually. It’s not the most visited blog (by any means) and I’m under no delusions that it’s the best writing in the world. But I’m writing something almost every day; considering that I have a full-time job, a husband and two dogs, a need to exercise regularly, and other responsibilities that’s kind of amazing! And similar to exercise the more I write, the more I want to keep writing.

Despite being a few books behind where I should be at this point in the year, I’m doing really well on my reading challenges. I’ve completed 23 books out of my goal of 52. A few years ago I read maybe 15 books per year so I’m proud of myself for powering through and opening myself up to new perspectives. I mean, let’s be honest: I could just read 52 Stephen King books (there are probably 52 I haven’t read–I swear that man publishes something new every month) or murder mysteries, but I’m trying to explore what else is out there. [Hint: there’s a lot!]

I also love that blogging has brought me into a community of others who have a passion for reading or writing their own works. There are a lot of talented writers in this blog realm and it’s been fun to discover their writing. Sometimes I wonder how I can compete but we all have something unique to bring to the table.

Thanks for reading!

What about you? How are you kicking ass lately?
