Happy Thursday! It’s nearly the end of the week (I’m not quite sure how) so it’s time to share something for which I’m grateful. This week I’ve been really thankful for…
friends in the LA area!
We moved to LA–the Valley, really–a few years ago which meant that all of our friends were left in Orange County. It’s not like I don’t get to talk to them–thanks to social media–or see them on occasion–hey, work buddies!–but living so far away been a very isolating experience overall, particularly since I primarily work from home. [Before you look at a map and ask, “Cassie, Orange County is right next to LA, what’s wrong with you?” let me just tell you that getting down there is a 65-mile, approximately 2-hour endeavor.]
Don’t get me wrong, working from home is amazing! I still work for a company in Orange County and I don’t think I could do that drive on a daily basis too easily. But ultimately it’s just me and the dogs for most of the day and they can’t carry on a conversation too well.
That’s why it’s so fun to have local friends! I’ve made new friends through my husband’s coworkers and it’s been a blast getting to know everyone. We can go out for drinks or brunch! We could meet up for lunch during the week! I’m not an incredibly social person but it’s nice to talk to someone other than my husband sometimes. [Nothing wrong with my husband but…you know. Variety is the spice of life and all that.]
My new friends aren’t replacing the old ones, it’s just nice to expand your social circle!
